If war does come
Then let it strike
Neither time nor rust shall blunt it's bite!
But
If I wait
Half-drawn, afraid...
Is a sword that sleeps still a blade?

I wrote this poem as an experiment of getting into the mind of certain characters who might delve into artistic pursuits to alleviate the pressure of living in such a physically demanding time. But the longer I sat with it and didn't find it incorporating itself into any narrative, I discovered that it was me. And my journey to this place where I push past fear into action and share my stories with the world.
